The National School Library of the Year Award will be presented to Corbett Elementary School, 5949 E. 29th St., during two ceremonies held from 1:30-2 and 2-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the school’s auditorium. A reception will follow in the school library.

Tom Salvetti, President of Follett Library Resources, will present the award — a check for $8,000 and a crystal obelisk trophy — which was announced last May. Also on hand will be TUSD Superintendent Dr. Stan Paz, Corbett Principal Joyce Dillon and Librarian Kim Grimes.

The National School Library Award program is designed to honor school media programs that are an integral part of the instructional process, demonstrate the value of such programs in the personal and social development of youth and encourage collaborative efforts among those responsible for student learning.
