National Service Learning Expert To Present at Howenstine Parent University

National service learning expert and author Cathryn Berger Kaye will make a presentation to parents, students and community during a Parent University workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 27 at Howenstine High Magnet School, 555 S. Tucson Blvd.

Ms. Kaye will present information on how students from coast to coast are getting involved in contributing to their communities and how parents can join in through family service. The presentation is part of Howenstine’s Parent University, a series of workshops offering parents information on how they can effectively participate in their children’s academic success. All workshops are open to the public.

Cathryn Berger Kaye is a national service learning consultant and author. She is highly regarded as an effective and engaging workshop leader and speaker for K-12 schools, universities and organizations.

Howenstine High Magnet School is a service learning magnet school that provides community service learning experience to its students through its high school curriculum. One of the school’s goals is to develop the magnet focus of service learning by concentrating on partnerships with families and community organizations to improve student achievement.
