Silent Auction to Benefit La Pilita

A silent auction, regional music, wine, and cheese, and a tour of La Pilita Museum, 420 S. Main, will highlight the Fourth Annual Silent Auction to benefit the museum from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15 at the Elysian Grove Bed and Breakfast, 400 W. Simpson St.

Over 100 items will be displayed for bidding including framed De Grazia art, silver and turquoise jewelry, and gift certificates for various local businesses. Live Mexican folklore music will be performed by Bobby Benton and the Boys. Wine will be served for $1 per glass and cheese and hors d’oeuvres will be complementary. A $15 donation will be requested at the door. 

La Pilita is a non-profit group which seeks to preserve the history of Barrio Historico by maintaining a data base of oral histories and by educating children and adults about Tucson's local history. La Pilita has a cadre of student docents, historic photo gallery, student art gallery, and small "tienda" where local and student-made crafts are sold. In partnership with Carrillo Elementary School, La Pilita provides activities which match the State Standards for Social Studies and Science at the 3,4,5 grade levels.
