Interscholastics Scholarship Program Receives Major Gift

The Educational Enrichment Foundation (EEF) will receive a gift of $12,000 from the
Tucson Conquistadores in support of the EEF Interscholastics Scholarship Program for TUSD
students during at the Sabino/Sahuaro football game, to be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov.
9, at Sabino High School, 5000 N. Bowes Rd.
Members of the Tucson Conquistadores, including President Wayne Smith and Funding
Chairman Michael McGrath, will present the donation during half-time activities. TUSD and
EEF Representatives will include Dr. Stan Paz, TUSD Superintendent; Sheila Baize, director
of TUSD Interscholastics; David Overstreet, EEF board president and principal of Erickson
Elementary School; Wayne Barnett, EEF board vice president; and Kathy Carlisle, EEF board
member.
The EEF Interscholastics Scholarship Program is used to award participation fee
scholarships to economically disadvantaged and at-risk students so that they can play on
their schools football team, join the band or participate in other school
activities. Since 1990, the Tucson Conquistadores have contributed a total of $117,000 to
the EEF.
