Sixty eighth-graders from Booth-Fickett Magnet School, 450 S. Montego, will educate over 300 kindergarten through fifth-graders on the importance of having a regular exercise routine from
noon to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 5 at Hudlow Elementary School, 502 N.
Caribe.
In order to inspire the elementary students to exercise, eighth-graders will teach them games such as tug-o-war, kick ball, and capture the flag. Students will rotate activities, each participating in three games for one-half hour per game.
The event is an extension of the Booth-Fickett eighth-grade physical education curriculum in which students learn to not only raise their own health awareness but also share their knowledge with others. Booth-Fickett students have previously taught elementary students at their own school, but this is the first time they have reached out to students at another school. Hudlow was chosen because it is a feeder school for
Booth-Fickett.
