Anthony Molina, student at Safford Magnet Middle School, 200 E. 13th
St., was one of 13 winning artists whose artwork was selected to appear in the 2006 Kids’ Safety Calendar published by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
Anthony’s winning piece was chosen from among 3,500 entries for the Arizona Kids’ 2006 Safety Calendar Contest and will illustrate the month of October. In addition, winning students will have their names and photos published along with their artwork. Anthony, together with his parents, visual arts teacher Karen Mitchell and Safford Principal Terry Ross, will attend the calendar’s unveiling by Governor Janet Napolitano during the annual
Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting on Nov. 28 at the State Capitol Building in
Phoenix.
Distributed across Arizona, the calendar was created to increase awareness and teach children the importance of being safe, while supporting the artistic talents of our youth. Students in first through eighth grades throughout the state participated in the contest held this past summer. Winning entries were selected by students at Thomas J. Pappas Regional Elementary School in Phoenix. For more information on the Arizona Kids’ 2006 Safety Calendar Contest, please visit:
