Over 200 people including students, parents, educators and Mayor Bob Walkup will come together to celebrate diversity and patriotism with a multicultural feast from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 at Van Horne Elementary School, 7550 E. Pima St., in the cafeteria.

Student performances will include a sign language and oral rendition of the song “Proud to be an American.” Each student’s family will bring a food dish that represents their family’s origin. Ten U.S. Air Force soldiers from Truck Company 494 will join the festivities.

The multicultural feast, which has been held for the past 11 years, is an extension of the third-grade curriculum at Van Horne. Its purpose is to encourage self awareness and cross-cultural unity.
