Three TUSD Employees Honored by Arizona

The Arizona Department of Education will honor three TUSD employees, Susana Pedersen, Edward Kowalczyk and Diana
Skorupski, at their 2003 MegaConference Evening of the Stars Honors Banquet, tonight,
Nov. 18, at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel in Phoenix.
This year’s award night, themed “Raining Stars of Education,” will recognize outstanding Arizona educators in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Honorees will be recognized by the Arizona Department of Education for having previously won various education awards in the 2002-2003 school year.
Ms. Pedersen, seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher at Naylor Middle School, was awarded “Ambassador for Excellence” by the Arizona Educational Foundation, an organization committed to the support of public school education. Pedersen won this award for her dedication to her students and the active role she plays in our community.
Mr. Kowalczyk, technology trainer for TUSD, was named “Technology Specialist of the Year” by the Arizona Technology in Education Alliance, an association devoted to technology in education. Ms. Skorupski, teacher and librarian at Van Buskirk Elementary, was also recognized by this association as “Librarian of the Year.” Skorupski and Kowalczyk were awarded these titles for their leadership in technology-based educational reform.
