Opening Minds Through The Arts Receives $15,000 Grant

The Stocker Foundation recently awarded Opening Minds through the Arts, Inc., an extension of TUSD’s OMA program, a $10,000 operational gift grant as well as a $5,000 challenge grant. 

The operational gift grant will go toward hiring an executive director. The challenge grant money will be bestowed after the OMA board of directors raises matching funds. 

OMA, Inc. was created to support TUSD’s OMA program and further its expansion into TUSD schools. The nonprofit organization is currently run solely by volunteers. 

TUSD’s OMA program was developed around brain-based learning theories designed to impact at-risk children and significantly increase student achievement. The goal of OMA is to help all students succeed by actively supporting and positively engaging students in all subjects through the arts. Further information can be found at www.omaproject.org.
