About 50 students at Fort Lowell Elementary School, 5151 E. Pima, will present a play based on an African folktale at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 13 in the school's multipurpose room.

The students from will present a play based on the book "Why Do Mosquitos Buzz in People's Ears?" by Verna Aardema. The book is based on an African folktale that explains why it seems mosquitos fly near people's ears. Nancy Rivera's first grade class and Nettie Andrews' fourth/fifth-grade combination class collaborated on this effort. About 200 students will view the play.

The play is funded in part by a grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts. The funding assists a team of teachers who integrate fine arts into the CORE curriculum.
