Nora Hassan, student at Utterback Magnet Middle School, 3233 S. Pinal Vista, was awarded a computer for both herself and her school after winning an essay contest sponsored by Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream and Albertson’s.

Nora was one of five winners selected for writing an essay on the topic “How a computer from Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream and Albertson’s will help me scoop up knowledge.” Valued at approximately $1000 each, the two computers and printers were presented during an ice cream party provided by Dreyer’s on Dec. 16.

The contest required students to limit their essays to no more than 250 words and include examples of how their class would use the computer. Submitted essays were judged on three criteria: enthusiasm, creativity, and originality. One winner was chosen per grade, grades two through six. This is the second year in a row an Utterback student has won.
