Who is eligible for summer high school classes at TUSD?

• Students who will be in grade 9 as of the 2008-2009 school year may register for freshmen subjects during this summer program.
• Non-TUSD students may attend any summer school site based upon space availability.
• All students are responsible for pre-requisite course requirements. Check with your school counselor for correct course selection.
• Students must have completed the driver education course with a passing grade and must have a learner's permit to be eligible for the behind-the-wheel course (proof required). The instructor for this non-credit offering will schedule students.

Class Times and Dates

1st Semester	5/27/08 - 6/11/08
2nd Semester	6/12/08 - 6/27/08

Summer school classes at Catalina, Palo Verde, Pueblo, Sabino, Sahuaro, Tucson, and Alternative Education will be held Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

In addition to the morning program, Rincon and Alternative Education will offer summer school classes Monday - Friday, 1:00 pm - 6:30 pm.

Classes at Cholla are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Distance Learning labs will open at 8:00 am.

Classes with fewer than 30 students may be subject to cancellation. Some classes may be combined so to avoid cancellation due to low enrollment.

Registration Information

Summer school registration will be held at each participating site.

Please confirm dates and times with the school site.

Late registration begins May 23.  (An additional $10.00 fee will be charged for late registration.)

Costs

Summer programs are self-supporting and site-based. 

All tuition must be paid at registration. Checks should be made payable to the school site where the course(s) will be taken. A $25 fee will be assessed for any returned check.

Late registration fee (after May 23)	$10
(A $10 non-refundable registration fee is included in tuition.)

Some specialty courses will require additional fees. Please inquire at the school.

Check with schools offering Driver's Education and/or Behind the Wheel for requirements and fees. Behind the Wheel is a non-credit course offering with a $100 fee.

50% of the tuition will be refunded to students who withdraw from the session before May 25, 2008, provided they have permission from the summer school coordinator.

Scholarships are available at some sites to enable student participation. Bus passes may be available. Please inquire at individual school site for more information.

Attendance Policy and Student Rights/Responsibilities

• One and a half (1½) days absent, excused or unexcused, per semester is the maximum allowed. Three tardies equal a ½ day absence.
• Discipline problems are grounds for immediate dismissal from the program (e.g. excessive absences, fighting, disruptive behavior, insubordination, use of illegal substances including tobacco, as well as other infractions listed in the Student's Rights and Responsibilities).

Grades

Grades will only be sent to each student's high school unless a written request is made and signed by a parent indicating otherwise. Students 18 years or older may sign for themselves.

Distance Learning Summer School
