Erickson Elementary focuses on strong math and reading components at each grade level. Teachers conduct daily math reviews and mental math activities and focus on the procedural and conceptual sides of math. Reading is encouraged at all levels, and tutors are available for students who might need extra help. Erickson also offers a strong band and orchestra program, access to the arts and other enriching activities.
Rachel Romero Rachel Romero
Rachel Romero is the proud principal of Erickson Elementary. She was born and raised on Tucson’s southeast side of town. Rachel and her husband has 7 children and 11 grandchildren. Rachel is a product of Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) schools and graduated from Palo Verde High School. She graduated at the University of Arizona, University of Phoenix, and Northern Arizona University. Rachel earned her Master’s degree in school counseling and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Rachel began her career in education in 1998, she worked as a Classroom Teacher for 15 years, an Elementary and Middle School Counselor, a Dean, and an Assistant Principal before becoming the principal of Erickson in 2019.
One of the most rewarding pieces of Rachel's professional career has been the opportunity to partner with students and families to ensure student success and a positive school climate. She knows families have options for thier child’s education, and she appreciate them choosing Erickson Elementary School. The teachers, staff, and herself look forward to providing an elementary education full of academic achievement and positive school experiences.
