National Federation of State High Schools - Fundamentals of Coaching Course - Beginning 2009-2010

All head and assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, hired before April 1st, 2009, must complete the NFHS Coach Education Program, or approved equivalent, no later than the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year (August 17, 2009). All head and assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, hired on or after April 1, 2009, must complete the NFHS Coach Education Program -- The AIA Executive Board recommends the NFHS "Fundamentals of Coaching" course. In addition, all coaches whether paid or volunteer must complete NFHS Concussion training and the ATC Student Health & Wellness PowerPoint/exam. Certificate of completion must be submitted to your site administrator, Interscholastics and Human Resources. Per TUSD guidelines, volunteer coaches must have completed NFHS Coach Education Program course at time of application.

CPR/First Aid Training

CPR and First Aid certificates are required for all coaches and must be valid the entire length of their coaching season. Training can be obtained through any organization offering the required certificates. The following is the only accepted online computer training for First Aid:  American Red Cross—First Aid, Health and Safety for Coaches (https://www.nfhslearn.com/courses/26/first-aid-health-and-safety)  Approved AP/AD Job-Alike March 4, 2013. 

NO ONLINE TRAINING WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR CPR/AED.
