How to Use This Page

This page contains a "menu" of lessons and activities for this week's learning at home. You will find the objectives: the specific skills that your child will be able to do. Then you will find a selection of lessons and activities which help your child master those skills. If you run into technical issues or other difficulties with any of these, simply move on and choose another. These activities fit into the Sample Dailly Schedule.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Your child DOES NOT have to complete all activities listed for each subject.
  • Activities have been identified to give your child choice and variety.
  • Your child's teacher may suggest other activities more appropriate for your child.

Literacy Objectives: Students will be able to:  

  • Read, “Extreme Earth” and describe all of the places he/she saw when I read the article to my family. 
  • Sing the song, “My Travels” with a family member. 
  • Watch a geography video and tell a family member about one ocean and one landform. 
  • Create compound words, edit sentences and choose synonyms and antonyms for many words.

Read the science article, “Extreme Earth” on pages 180-195.

Write About It! 

The author of the science article, “Extreme Earth” described places with extreme weather.  Write about an experience you had in a place with extreme weather.  Use a word from the word bank below to tell what happened.  

Sentence starters: 

I visited a _________.  It was so ________! One thing I did was ___________.  The weather there was______________. 

Words: plateau, ocean, mountain, valley, river, lake, island, desert 

You can make up your experience. You can pretend you went there.
