TUSD Summer Meal Program starts May 26
Message from TUSD Food Services
Our summer meals program will start Tuesday, May 26 which will be a revised version of the current Grab & Go meals we have been running during the school closure. < Click here for the new schedule. > Free meals for all children 18 & under will continue. There will be 6 bus routes by region with 77 stops total (there are 6 routes since Silverbell region has 2 routes). The meal bus routes will run earlier from 8am-12:00pm (to avoid the hotter times of the afternoon) and will provide both breakfast and lunch. The lunch entree will be provided cold/frozen to be heated up at home (microwave and oven heating instructions will be provided).
Communication Plan: This information has been shared with the Assistant Superintendents to share with their schools. Leslie and her team will be updating the district website and posting on social media. We will be sending a ParentLink communication out next week to all households. We will also provide flyers to post on the current buses so staff can start letting families know that are currently receiving meals about the change starting May 26.
Summer meal plans for July will be determined based on whether USDA/ADE extends the non-congregate feeding waiver currently in place through June 30 which allows meals to be taken home.
Please note our current meal bus routes will run through Friday, May 22. Since Monday, May 25 is a district holiday and we will not operate, we will be providing double meals on Friday, May 22 to include meals for Monday (families will receive Friday breakfast and lunch and Monday breakfast and lunch with Friday's meal distribution). Then then new bus routes start Tuesday, May 26.
