How to Use This Page

This page contains a "menu" of lessons and activities for this week's learning at home. You will find the objectives: the specific skills that your child will be able to do. Then you will find a selection of lessons and activities which help your child master those skills. If you run into technical issues or other difficulties with any of these, simply move on and choose another. These activities fit into the Sample Dailly Schedule.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Your child DOES NOT have to complete all activities listed for each subject.
  • Activities have been identified to give your child choice and variety.
  • Your child's teacher may suggest other activities more appropriate for your child.

Literacy Objectives: Students will be able to:

  • retell a story by describing the important events in the beginning, middle and end.
  • write or draw about the important event that happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story.
  • identify the pronouns (I, you, it) in a sentence and select the correct pronoun (we, you, they) to complete a sentence.
  • use pictures and words to help understand what the vocabulary words mean.

Listening and Speaking

After watching the video, complete the concept map by writing or drawing your ideas about how animals change in the blank circles. Think about what you saw in the video.
Songs: Sing along to the song, The Little Duckling. Click on the bottom part of the disk for the music.

Read the story, Ruby in Her Own Time, by Jonathan Emmett, pages 207-230 in your student book. Click on the speaker icon to listen.

After reading the story, use the pictures on each page to tell someone the story using you own words.

Pronouns take the place of a noun. I, we, and you are used for people in place of a noun. They can be used for people and things. It is used for animal and things, only.

Complete ﷟HYPERLINK ""the practice page singular subject pronouns. On another day, complete the plural subject pronouns practice page. If you cannot print the page, then use a regular sheet of paper to write the answers.

After reading Ruby in Her Own Time,
fold a piece of paper into 3 parts and label each box with the words Beginning, Middle and End. Draw picture about the most important event that happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story.
If you can do more, write a sentence telling about what is happening in each picture you drew. Use words like First, Next, and Last.
