Your Commitment

You will be committed for a total of four years as you teach an Exceptional Education classroom

  • Teach with an Intern Certification in Exceptional Education for two years, while you earn your Standard Exceptional Education Certification.
  • Teach an additional two years after earning your Arizona Standard Special Education certificate.


  • Have at least a bachelor's degree and be a current TUSD employee
  • Submit complete application by deadline: 4:45 p.m. on January 31, 2020 (HR/Attn: Andrew Campbell and Martha Edwards)
  • Enroll in an state-approved Intern Pathway Program in Special Education
  • Obtain an Arizona Teaching Intern Certificate: Special Education
  • Accept an Exceptional Education teaching position beginning in the school year 2020-2021
  • Sign commitment agreement
  • Attend Ex Ed related Professional Development Sessions


  • Hard-to-fill hiring incentive of $5000
  • Tuition reimbursement: not to exceed $5000 over the course of two years, nor exceed $5000 per individual per lifetime.
  • Participation in the TUSD Mentor Program
