Certified Pay Schedule

The salary schedule for the 2016-2017 school year is effective July 1 with a starting salary of $35,700 (includes a base salary of $32,100 and a supplemental amount for classroom site funding, contingent upon funding from the State of Arizona).

Salary Placement
Newly employed MBUs shall be placed on the appropriate salary schedule at a step that reflects their previous experience. Acceptable experience is limited to that gained within the last ten (10) years. Experience prior to earning a Bachelor's Degree and certification shall not be credited to an employee for salary purposes.

  1. Newly employed MBUs shall be given credit for teaching experience in the Peace Corps, overseas, in private and public schools, and in accredited junior colleges or universities.
  2. Vocational teachers with degrees shall also be allowed credit for approved work experience in their teaching fields.
  3. Social workers shall receive credit for experience gained prior to meeting minimum certification requirements (Master's Degree) but subsequent to receipt of Bachelor's Degree.
  4. Experience credit for noncertified MBUs must be subsequent to the MBU's holding the appropriate credentials for the position.

TUSD reserves the right to evaluate previous teaching and work experience.

* Salary is based on a 207-day contract which includes 20 paid holidays, 7.5 hour work schedule with a duty-free lunch and separate planning period. For more information about employment terms, see Consensus Agreement.
* New teachers attend New Teacher Induction training as part of the first regular contract.
* Minimum pay includes $3,600 of Prop 301 funding. Separate 301 Pay for Performance is also available up to $3000 annually with achievement of approved Plan goals.
* Pay may be increased annually by $500 with Governing Board Approval
**Stipends are paid separate from contract and disbursed according to stipend parameters. These are available for the first year only.
