Palo Verde High Magnet School’s STEAM programs provide access to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. This is done through a variety of classes including, but not limited to, Engineering, Computer Science, Film & TV, Clay, Ceramics, Painting, Drawing, Theatre, Band, Orchestra, Forensics, Anatomy, Biology, and multiple math options. One of the pillars of our STEAM Program is our Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program where students can earn industry certification in their area of study. Currently, our CTE Program includes Computer Science, Engineering, Film & TV, Digital Communications, and Sports Medicine.
STEAM education is an approach to teaching and learning that integrates the content and skills of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Along with content knowledge, a strong STEAM program establishes student behaviors, which include engagement in inquiry, logical reasoning, collaboration, and investigation. The goal of STEAM education is to prepare students for post-secondary study and the 21st century workforce.
Consistent with our mission, vision and values, Palo Verde students continue to grow in skills, knowledge, and critical thinking abilities, while preparing to compete and succeed in a global economy. Palo Verde’s mission, vision, and values asks students to develop a growth-mindset, a habit of lifelong learning, and the capacity to take risks. Furthermore, students are expected to communicate kindly, become inquirers, open-minded, caring, principled, and reflective, as well as be willing to take an active, influential, and positive part in their community in order to apply those skills to a choice of college, university, technical program or career path to compete and succeed in the global economy.
Palo Verde offers dual-enrollment options in the areas of Engineering and Anatomy/Physiology. This means students can earn college credit while attending their classes at PV. We also currently offer 13 Advanced Placement (AP) options.
Outside the classroom, Palo Verde students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities including clubs and sports.
