University High School is a National Blue Ribbon School and has consistently been ranked in the top schools nationwide. This rigorous school serves academically focused and intellectually gifted students. At UHS, we provide curriculum and social support not offered in the comprehensive high school.
University High School was ranked No. 15 in the nation and No. 6 in the state in the 2017 U.S. News & World Report analysis of the country's high schools.
The rankings are based on criteria including schools' performance on state assessments, graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college. More than 22,000 high schools were evaluated this year.
Amy Cislak, principal of University High School, says she is proud of the school's students, their achievements and the school's diverse community.
"While these rankings only look at a small part of what schools do each and every day, we are incredibly proud of our achievements. For our students to have a 96 percent AP passing rate (when we do not require nor put pressure on students to take AP exams) is impressive," she said.
"We are also incredibly proud that these scores reflect a diverse and vibrant community. Special Master, Dr. Willis Hawley reported this year that University High School is the most diverse public exam high school in the country," Ms. Cislak said. "We are proud that students of all backgrounds come together at UHS. The culture and community here is like no other and I am proud every single day to be the principal at UHS."
