Hello Vail Families,
During this unprecedented time in our country and state, I hope all of you are well. Families are receiving several parentlink messages, text messages, and emails right now, and there is a great deal of information being distributed. I will try to distill everything down to a more manageable list.
We do not know what will happen after April 10, so we are not going to worry about it right now. We are going to focus on the present as it’s the easiest thing to deal with at the moment. We hope that everyone has been able to access the school meals by now. If you have questions, please reach out to Food Services through the TUSD website or by calling them directly at 520-225-4700.
Teachers may have already begun sending instructional lessons through your son or daughter’s StudentVue account. Students can log into this account from the school’s website (www.tusd1.org/vail) and use the same log-in and password that he/she uses to log into a school computer. If your son or daughter is new to us here at Vail, they may need to use their matric number; this is their student number. Please reach out to one of your student’s teachers with log-in questions if you still need support.
If students are unable to access or complete the lessons sent by a Vail MS teacher; no worries.
Families can drive or walk to the nearest elementary school on Tuesday between 10am-1pm and collect a workbook of lessons to be done at home. Families will identify the grade level of the student who needs a packet of lessons and be given the one for the appropriate grade level. These lessons have been developed by curriculum specialists in the district and are based on grade level material. This material is likely review material and covers the core disciplines. Once these activities are completed, please hold onto the workbook until there is further direction about what to do with it. These packets are meant to cover one week of instruction.
The district will inform families about subsequent packets and how they will be distributed.
There are more at home learning activities located on the “LearnAtHome” section of the TUSD website if your son or daughter needs more to do in their day. Please consider these resources.
As we work through our current, very unusual circumstances, we are also looking towards next year. Please use your ParentVue account to register online for the next school year. Ms. Marilyn Hooper, the registrar, can assist you via email at Marilyn.email@example.com.
ParentVue can also be used to send emails to teachers with questions or comments. Each teacher has “office hours” where they will be available for tutoring, instruction, or questions every day. Please use them as the valuable learning resource he or she is.
Patience is the key to success during this time period. Please reach out via email to a counselor, teacher, or me for support. We will get through everything by recognizing each other’s humanity and lack of perfection, while appreciating that we are all doing the best we can.
