2016-2017 School Year

Anna Maiden: Celebrating Innovation in the Workplace Award Finalist. Our Chief Human Resources Office, Anna Maiden, was a finalist in the Leadership category for the Celebrating Innovation in the Workplace Award and was recognized at an event last month at Ventana Canyon. The program was given by Society for Human Resource Management of Greater Tucson

TUSD Communications & Media Relations, 2016 PRSA Impact Awards. The TUSD Communications and Media Relations Department won two awards from the Public Relations Society of America's Southern Arizona Chapter. The team earned a Certificate of Excellence in a multimedia category. The team won for the video application for a $100,000 fitness center grant from the National Governors' Fitness Councils. As you remember, Hollinger K-8 won the grant! The team also won an Impact Award for #TeamTUSD, the project that features teams from across the district and what they love about being a part of Tucson Unified.

Metropolitan Pima Alliance (MPA) announces 2016 Common Ground Award Winners. Tucson Unified received not one, but two Common Ground Awards! 1. Steps to Success: Tucson Unified School District was recognized for the Common Ground award-winning project, Steps to Success. 2. Garden-to-Cafeteria: Tucson Unified School District was recognized as a top collaborator for the Common Ground award-winning project, Garden-to-Cafeteria.

Samuel E. Brown, JD. Tucson's outstanding '40 under 40.' Our desegregation legal counsel, Mr. Sam Brown, was recently named one of Tucson's '40 under 40' by the Tucson Hispanic Chamber. The award recognizes young leaders who are making an impact in the community with their professional and charitable work. Mr. Brown grew up in Tucson Unified Schools and now serves our students by enrusing the district meets and exceeds Unitary Status Plan goals.
