Summer Story School: Presented by Make Way for Books 

Story School is a free reading program where children and parents learn together each week in a positive group setting. Participants will foster community as they explore and build connections around books. Children are immersed in books and literacy activities that promote the development of literacy, language, and social-emotional skills. Parents/caregivers gain skills and tools to support their children’s early development. Childcare will be provided. Children will also receive free books! To sign up, please call 520-908-3980.

Health and Wellness Event: Presented by Nosotros 

Appointments are required for this event. Please get in touch with Rosa Maria at 520-225-2172. Join us and learn about the human liver, improving eating habits, and how to live a healthy life. Eligible participants for this study will receive a free liver scan. Please fast for three hours before your scheduled appointment and wear comfortable clothes.

Healthy Eating Routine & Nutrition: UA Cooperative Extension Pima County                                                                           Are you looking for a simple and healthy eating routine? Join us at the Southwest Family Resource Center to learn or be reminded how simple proper nutrition can be! The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension has a Community Nutrition Education program that the staff is excited to share. TUSD Online Enrollment: Presented by TUSD Enrollment Ambassadors 

Are your children registered for the upcoming school year? Do you need support with TUSD's online registration, or do you have enrollment questions? We can help! TUSD Enrollment Ambassadors will be visiting the Catalina Family Resource Center Computer Lab to support new and existing families with school registrations. Ambassadors will be providing support with ParentVue, school choice, magnet, and more.

Back to School Immunizations: Presented by Pima County Health Department                                                                      The Family Resource Centers are partnering with the Pima County Health Department to offer back to school vaccines for TUSD students. Parents must be present for children under the age of 18. All recommended vaccines as well as the COVID-19 vaccines for children (5 and older) will be available. Insurance will be billed for those with insurance. No cost vaccines are available for uninsured. Please bring picture IDs, insurance cards and immunization records.

English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELAA): Presented by Literacy Connects 

Literacy Connects is offering a summer session Zoom class for adults who want to learn and improve their English skills. All levels are welcome! Classes meet twice a week for one hour and are free for any adult in Pima County. Click on the link below to join the sign-up list. After June 1, staff from Literacy Connects will notify you about your class placement or put you on a waitlist. You must enter a U.S. cell phone number when you sign up so that staff may contact you. Classes and workshops for parents, guardians, and community members


Tucson Unified's Family Resource Centers offer a wide variety of classes and workshops to parents, guardians and community members to help strengthen Tucson Unified families by providing education and resources. Topics include child development, academics, health and nutrition, safety, parenting, college readiness, district and community resources, and more. We believe that stronger families make stronger students, and strong students will contribute to a stronger community overall. Each of the Family Resource Centers offers a monthly calendar of classes and workshops.
