  • English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELAA): Presented by Literacy Connects

    This class is offered to any adult with a desire to learn and improve their English. Students may choose from beginning, high beginning, and intermediate level classes.

  • GED Preparation Class: Presented by Literacy Connects

    Prepare for your GED by improving your reading, writing, math, and thinking skills. Ages 21 and over.

  • Cooking Healthy: Presented by The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona

    Parent volunteers will demonstrate how to cook nutritious meals using ingredients from the Family Resource Center’s food pantry. Participants will also learn how to make easy low-cost meals. Please click on the link to register.

  • Brain Waves: Presented by The U of A Cooperative Extension

    This 4-class series shares the wonders of how children’s brains grow and learn. Parents will gain knowledge in brain development, emotions, and temperament; and strategies to strengthen young children.

  • Nutrition Class: Presented by The U of A Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program

    This class will be in English and Spanish. This class will introduce the USDA MyPlate nutrition guide. Participants will learn the importance of food safety, reading & comparing food labels, menu planning, food budgeting, and exercising.


  • Stepping Stones: Presented by The U of A Cooperative Extension

    Child behavior management for families with children with Autism. The series provides community as well as a specialized set of skills for parents to properly identify behavior problems and challenge their children to reach milestones using the Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) curriculum.

  • Positive Discipline: Presented by The U of A Cooperative Extension

    This program focuses on using kindness, firmness, dignity, and respect. After this workshop you will be empowered with skills to reduce problematic behaviors while strengthening your child's life skills.

Classes and workshops for parents, guardians, and community members

Tucson Unified's Family Resource Centers offer a wide variety of classes and workshops to parents, guardians and community members to help strengthen Tucson Unified families by providing education and resources. Topics include child development, academics, health and nutrition, safety, parenting, college readiness, district and community resources, and more. We believe that stronger families make stronger students, and strong students will contribute to a stronger community overall. Each of the Family Resource Centers offers a monthly calendar of classes and workshops.
