Your Commitment

Continue to teach for TUSD in a dual language classroom for two years after earning your Arizona Provisional Teaching Certificate with Spanish Bilingual Certificate.

Criteria

  • Have at least a bachelor's degree and be a current TUSD employee
    OR
    Have three or more years contracted teaching experiences
  • Submit complete application by deadline: 4:45 p.m. on January 12, 2018 (HR/Attn: Andrew Campbell and Martha Peyton-Edwards)
  • Pass the appropriate subject knowledge exam
  • Enroll in a Teacher Intern Pathway Program
  • Obtain an Arizona Teaching Intern Certificate
  • Accept a dual language teaching position beginning in the school year 2018-2019
  • Sign commitment agreement
  • Attend quarterly support sessions

*Program can accept up to 20 eligible candidates

Support

  • Applicants will receive an annual $5000 stipend for teaching in a TWDL classroom.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: not to exceed $5000 over the course of two years, nor exceed $5000 per individual per lifetime.
  • Participation in the TUSD Mentor Program
  • Support group meetings

Who is eligible?

  • Current, regular employees in good standing with Bachelor's Degree.
  • Current, regular contract non dual language teachers in good standing with three or more years contracted teaching experience.

Timeline

January 2018

  • Submit completed application, including supporting documents by the DEADLINE: 4:45 PM, January 12, 2018
  • Drop-in observations by Language Acquisition
  • Shadow a Dual Language Teacher for a day (suggested)

February 2018

  • Applicants will be notified if they have passed the application portion of "Make the Move."

March 2018

  • Sign up for Spanish Proficiency Exam

April 2018

  • Take the Spanish Proficiency Exam on April 7, 2018
  • Receiving passing results
  • Approved "Make the Move" participants, will be contacted by HR
  • Review current Dual Language teaching vacancies

May 2018

  • Sign Commitment Agreement
  • Register for a Bilingual Education program at a state approved college or university
  • Apply for Provisional Spanish Bilingual Endorsement
  • Start down a new path of your career!
