21st Century learning requires 21st Century teachers.

Core Beliefs

  • The classroom teacher has the single largest impact on student achievement. Our work and our decisions should center on growing, attracting, supporting and retaining the best teachers available.
  • Great teachers are most likely to leave a school because of the quality of the leadership. Our work and our decisions should center on growing, attracting, supporting, and retaining the best leaders available.
  • A global economy or "flat" world, a rapidly changing technology/information age, digital native students, a need for 21st Century skills, and many other factors require that we transform our educational systems. Our work and our decisions should center on inspiring, facilitating, and supporting our schools and our community in moving their educational paradigm, district ends, resources, and all applicable strategies into fulfilling the needs of our students.
  • Tucson Unified School District's Professional Development program ensures that all District personnel receive ongoing professional development regarding diversity and the District's prohibitions on discrimination on the basis of race and ethnicity.
