How to Use This Page

This page contains a "menu" of lessons and activities for this week's learning at home. You will find the objectives: the specific skills that your child will be able to do. Then you will find a selection of lessons and activities which help your child master those skills. If you run into technical issues or other difficulties with any of these, simply move on and choose another. These activities fit into the Sample Dailly Schedule.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Your child DOES NOT have to complete all activities listed for each subject.
  • Activities have been identified to give your child choice and variety.
  • Your child's teacher may suggest other activities more appropriate for your child.

Math Objectives: Students will be able to: 

  • add numbers up to 100, using different strategies based on tens and ones. ·
  • sumar números hasta 100, usando una variedad de estrategias basadas en decenas y unidades.
  • use a two-digit number to find 10 more or 10 less than the number, without having to count.
  • usar un número de dos dígitos encontrar 10 más o 10 menos que el número, sin tener que contar.

Vocabulary

Number bond: a simple addition of two numbers that add up to give the sum.

Enlace numérico o vínculo numérico: La relación entre tres números que muestran el entero, parte, y parte de una suma.

Number sentence (addition or subtraction): a mathematical sentence, made up of numbers and signs.
Ex: 3+4=7

Enunciado Numérico o Oración Numérica: Una oración numérica es una oración matemática, compuesta de números y signos.

Quick tens (ten stick): Each group of ten is represented by a line and single numbers are represented by a circle or square. (See video explanation)

Decenas Rápidas: Cada grupo de diez está representado por una línea y los números individuales están representados por un círculo o un cuadrado.

Arrow way: involves chunking a number into more manageable mental pieces in order to add or subtract. (See video explanation)

Digit: a number

Addend: Any of the numbers that are added together.
