How to Use This Page

This page contains a "menu" of lessons and activities for this week's learning at home. You will find the objectives: the specific skills that your child will be able to do. Then you will find a selection of lessons and activities which help your child master those skills. If you run into technical issues or other difficulties with any of these, simply move on and choose another. These activities fit into the Sample Dailly Schedule.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Your child DOES NOT have to complete all activities listed for each subject.
  • Activities have been identified to give your child choice and variety.
  • Your child's teacher may suggest other activities more appropriate for your child.

Please email or call your teacher.

Outside Learning*
Choose two/ three different times of the day, for example early morning, noon, and dusk. Take a short walk & listen and look closely. Try to keep track of the different sounds you hear & the different things you see. Depending on the time of year and time of day, you may hear and see cicadas, crickets, birds, insects, and plants. You might also observe things that involve humans, like cars, planes, and people. Record your observations in notebook/paper, and be sure to record the time of day. Think about why we might see and hear different animals and humans depending on the time of day or season. Write your thoughts down.

Build It: Hands-on Activity * Using materials at home
Build a simple Sundial with 2 sticks. Place stick #1 in the ground, then place stick #2 a little way away & due north of stick #1. If the shadow of stick #1 is to the left of stick #2, then it is morning; if it is to the right then it is afternoon, and if the shadows lie perfectly on top of each other then it is the middle of the day!
