  • understand and use simple future tense, use modals can/could and identify adverbs.
  • listen to a speaker talking about families and answer a series of comprehension questions.
  • look into and discover their own family history with the help of members of their household.

Projects
Writing Project – Continue your daily writing journal by writing about what you did today or write a letter to a family member, who you don’t know very well or you never got to know, who has passed away. What would you ask them?

Family History – Talk to the people in your household and look into your family history. Find out the names of your grandmothers and grandfathers as far back as you can go. Ask if they have photos or fun stories! With the information you have now discovered, create a family tree together.

Vocabulary

To adopt (verb): to legally bring up another child as one's own
Foster (verb): to provide parental care to a child temporarily in the home of people who are not the child’s parents
Pedigree Chart (noun): the tracing of family traits in a chart

Blended Family (noun): a family that includes children from previous relationships/marriages
Traits (noun): a genetically determined characteristic
