How to Use This Page

This page contains a "menu" of lessons and activities for this week's learning at home. You will find the objectives: the specific skills that your child will be able to do. Then you will find a selection of lessons and activities which help your child master those skills. If you run into technical issues or other difficulties with any of these, simply move on and choose another. These activities fit into the Sample Dailly Schedule.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Your child DOES NOT have to complete all activities listed for each subject.
  • Activities have been identified to give your child choice and variety.
  • Your child's teacher may suggest other activities more appropriate for your child.

Grade 2 Literacy - Week One

Week 1 March 30-April 3

Literacy Objectives: Students will be able to:

  • Ask and answer questions such as who, what, where, when, why and how about literary texts by referring back to the key details.
  • Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
  • Write narratives in which they recount a well‐elaborated event or short sequence of events; include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings.

Objetivos de Lectura: Los estudiantes van a poder:

  • Pregunta y contesta preguntas tal como quién, qué, adónde, cuándo, por qué y cómo acerca del texto y tomando en consideración detalles claves.
  • Saber y aplicar fonética y análisis de palabras del nivel de grado cuando lee el texto en voz alta.
  • Escribir una narrativa personal en donde se acuerda de una experiencia de su vida real incluyendo; detalles para describir acciones, sus pensamientos de la experiencia y sus emociones.

Benchmark Education Home-School Letter

Go to Clever and select the Benchmark app.

Go to your inbox and click on assignments.

Find the Home-School letter titled Welcome to Benchmark.

Have your parents read the letter.


Student IXL Directions


1) Login to Clever

2) Go to IXL

3) When the page opens, look for the yellow star near the top right side. Next to it says “Recommendations by your teacher” in blue. Click on it.

4) Click on the skill you want to practice.

5) Follow the on screen directions. Click on the blue speaker to have it read it to you.

Read the text and complete the activities by clicking on the blue arrow. The activities are Power Words, Write, and Quiz.

1) Login Clever

2) Go to Newela

3) Select ELA and then Paired Texts: Fiction-Nonfiction on the left hand side.

4) Select the title of the text listed below

5) Click the assign button at the bottom of the title box.

6) Write the instructions and click assign.
