How to Use This Page

This page contains a "menu" of lessons and activities for this week's learning at home. You will find the objectives: the specific skills that your child will be able to do. Then you will find a selection of lessons and activities which help your child master those skills. If you run into technical issues or other difficulties with any of these, simply move on and choose another. These activities fit into the Sample Dailly Schedule.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Your child DOES NOT have to complete all activities listed for each subject.
  • Activities have been identified to give your child choice and variety.
  • Your child's teacher may suggest other activities more appropriate for your child.

Math Objectives: Students will be able to:

  • identify and draw points, lines, line segments, rays, and angles.
  • recognize points, lines, line segments, rays and angles in various contexts and familiar figures.
  • identify, define, and draw parallel lines.

Objetivos de matemáticas: Los alumnos podrán:

  • dibujar puntos, rectas, segmentos de rectas, semirrectas, ángulos (rectos, agudos, obtusos), y rectas perpendiculares y paralelas
  • identificar estos elementos en las figuras bidimensionales.

Vocabulary

point- the exact location in space represented by a dot.
punto- ubicación exacta en el espacio.

line- a set of connected points continuing without end in both directions.
recta- puntos conectados que se extiende infinitamente en direcciones opuestas.

line segment- a part of a line with two endpoints.
segmento de recta- parte de una recta definida por dos puntos extremos.

ray- a part of a line that has one endpoint and goes on forever in one direction.
semirrecta- una trayectoria recta que comienza en un extremo y continúa indefinidamente en una dirección.

angle- two rays or line segments that share an endpoint.
ángulo- dos semirrectas con un extremo común.

acute angle- an angle with a measure less than 90°.
ángulo agudo - un ángulo que mide menos de 90º

obtuse angle- an angle with a measure greater than 90º but less than 180º.
ángulo obtuso- un ángulo que tiene una medida mayor de 90º y menor de 180º.

right angle- an angle that measures exactly 90º.
ángulo recto- un ángulo que mide exactamente 90 º

parallel- lines that are always the same distance apart. they do not intersect.
rectas paralelas- rectas que siempre están separadas por la misma distancia.

perpendicular- two intersecting lines that form right angles.
rectas perpendiculares- dos rectas que intersecan formando ángulos.
