How to Use This Page

This page contains a "menu" of lessons and activities for this week's learning at home. You will find the objectives: the specific skills that your child will be able to do. Then you will find a selection of lessons and activities which help your child master those skills. If you run into technical issues or other difficulties with any of these, simply move on and choose another. These activities fit into the Sample Dailly Schedule.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Your child DOES NOT have to complete all activities listed for each subject.
  • Activities have been identified to give your child choice and variety.
  • Your child's teacher may suggest other activities more appropriate for your child.

Week 2 April 6 – April 10

Students will be able to:  

  • learn and use important vocabulary about the four seasons, wild flowers and other plants in reading passages and videos. 
  • practice reading comprehension skills and respond to questions using supporting details. 
  • write a summary and write the steps of a process in order.
  • use comparatives, superlatives and past time words to complete sentences. 

Reading & Writing

Watch this video about planting wildflowers and write a summary of what you learned:

Do one or two of the following:  

Hands on project - If your home or backyard has space for some easy gardening, you may have fun:  

Garden Fun: Teaching Kids to grow their own food.  

Writing project – Continue daily journal entry by writing what you do every day (What is the weather like outside? What kinds of activities is this weather perfect for?) 

Science project – With an adult present, create clouds in a jar.

Art Project – Create a Seasons Wheel with photos, drawings, magazine/newspaper clippings, words and colors that represent the season.

Academic Vocabulary

Clouds (N):  white or grey objects in the sky that are made of many small drops of water.   

Wildflowers: (N)  flowers that grow in natural places without being planted by people 

Summarize (V) to tell (information) again using fewer words 


Season(s): (N) one of the four periods (spring, summer, autumn, and winter) into which the year is commonly divided 

Plant (s, ed, ing) (V): to put (a seed, flower, or plant) in the ground to grow 

Shop: (N): a building or room where goods and services are sold
