How to Use This Page

This page contains a "menu" of lessons and activities for this week's learning at home. You will find the objectives: the specific skills that your child will be able to do. Then you will find a selection of lessons and activities which help your child master those skills. If you run into technical issues or other difficulties with any of these, simply move on and choose another. These activities fit into the Sample Dailly Schedule.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Your child DOES NOT have to complete all activities listed for each subject.
  • Activities have been identified to give your child choice and variety.
  • Your child's teacher may suggest other activities more appropriate for your child.

Science Objectives: Students will be able to:

  • engage in scientific practices to observe and describe behaviors of liquids.
  • record observations with pictures and words.
  • ask and answer questions about key details in informational text.

Offline Activity
Water Drops: Observe the shape of water drops as they move. Place a water drop on wax paper or a baggie. By blowing on the droplet or using a straw, observe the way it moves. Place two water drops, what do you notice when they touch? Scientists record their observations. Write what happened; I noticed. With your parent's supervision, experiment with other liquids in your house. Place the liquid on the wax paper or baggie and observe how it moves when blowing on the droplet or using a straw.
Gotas de agua: observa la figura de las gotas de agua y como se mueven. Pon algunas gotas de agua en un trozo de papel encerado. We have learned a lot about ways scientist use their five senses to observe and use tools for experiments. Please draw and label what you think a scientist looks like and share your drawing with your family and have a discussion.
Questions to discuss:
How are liquids different from each other? How can liquids be described? Where are liquids outdoors?
