Book check-out process: Kindergarten students are allowed to check out 1 book which is kept in the classroom. First graders are allowed to check out 1 book and take it home with parent permission. Grades 2 - 5 are allowed to check out 2 books and take them home. All books are checked out for 1 week at a time. If a book is lost or damaged, parents are expected to pay for the replacement or repair of the book. Students will not be allowed to check out books if they have outstanding fines.
Classes and activities: All students visit the library and computer lab at least once per week for a half hour each. In the library, students participate in centers which consist of various academic hands-on activities. When students switch to the computer lab, they will learn basic keyboarding and computer skills while practicing ELA or math activities using the Success Maker program. All students are expected to listen to the instructors, follow directions, show good classroom behavior and respect and take care of the materials (manipulatives, books, computer workstations, printers, etc.)
The library and computer lab spaces are also used for meetings for School Council, Parent Coffee, PTO, Book Fairs and Staff Professional Development.
