  • Mr. James Palacios

  • Greetings from the Principal

Dear Santa Rita High School Students, Parents, and Community,

I would like to say thank you for your continued commitment to the Santa Rita Family. It is important that all students and their families are informed and knowledgeable about what it means to be part of the Santa Rita Family.

We want to share several important facts regarding the new program at Santa Rita

As a student at Santa Rita, you will be given an opportunity t be a part of the a College Readiness Program.  This opportunity affords you access to a menu of post-secondary college credit courses through Pima Community College while attending.  We are very proud of the work that has been done the last three years to develop and provide this unique OPPORTUNITY to our committed students and families. No other high school in the Tucson area offers this enriching experience.  By choosing to be a student at Santa Rita, you are committing to a goal that affords the prospect of earning not only a high school diploma, but also, industry certificates, internship placements and college credit toward an AGEC Certificate, which means a completion of 35 college credits that can be applied to an associate’s degree from Pima Community College, or transferred to any four year university in the country.  Also, every student graduating who will graduate high school with college credit will be able to qualify for SCHOLARSHIP offers in order to complete a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.

What sets us apart from other schools?  We are building a culture of SUPPORT to assist students in attending post-secondary educational institutions. At Santa Rita, the schedules are designed for students to maximize college credit each semester. Students can enroll into PCC courses as early as their sophomore year and earn COLLEGE CREDIT hours by following the designated plan.  College readiness activities that take place at Santa Rita include: after school tutoring sessions; college and career planning and research; preparation for college placement tests, SAT and ACT; taking specialized college campus tours; annual industry visits; academic support for high school and college courses; and internships.  Individualized academic programs include how to develop projects and project management skills, how to research and write college level papers, communicate with college instructors, register and plan for college courses, reading college textbooks, and follow a degree plan

If your goals include completing college credit, obtaining an AGEC Certificate/associates degree and a bachelors degree at a four year college or university and you are ready for this unique CHALLENGE to become the best College and Career Ready student you can be, then Santa Rita High School is right for you.

If you have any further questions, please contact our school counselor, or administrator or call the school at 520-731-7504.

Best Wishes and Welcome to Santa Rita High School,

    James Palacios, Principal
