6th Grade ELA Course
Question 1: How do our past experiences, family, and community influence us and encourage us to dream big and "reach for the stars"?
Question 2: How do our relationships and our ability to imagine the possible or impossible help make us who we are as we grow?
We are on an exciting journey of growing up. It's not just about bodies changing; we are also learning about other signs of growing up, like making our own choices and taking on more responsibilities. We are talking about "aha!" moments when we truly feel like we are becoming more mature.
Middle school brings lots of changes, and we are reflecting on our experiences through journaling or even writing letters to family elders. These reflections help us get ready for bigger decisions down the road.

Next, we explore how humans and animals have built amazing relationships over thousands of years—from working together to being beloved companions. We're discovering how these bonds benefit both people and animals.
As we continue to learn about how all kinds of relationships shape who we are, we look at how technology influences our daily lives and our connections with others. There's so much to explore and discuss about our changing world!

Now we are diving into the amazing world of imagination! As we continue to investigate what shapes our own growth and relationships, we are now focusing on how we broaden our ability to imagine and create.
We are looking at all sorts of original works—like stories, poems, and even song lyrics—to see how different writers bring their "outlandish" ideas to life and into our world. It's a fantastic way to see where those creative sparks come from!

Finally, we explore the amazing people who shape us and make a difference in our lives!
We are talking about the "real" heroes we know, like family members, neighbors, and friends, who inspire us every day. We are also discovering "hidden figures"—people from the past who stretched the boundaries of what was possible. Their courage and ideas helped pave the way for us.
We're also recognizing the many "unsung heroes" who lived quieter lives but still made a huge impact on others.

We are here to equip, inspire and enrich the strengths of all learners with relevant educational experiences for lifelong learning.
Every day we strive to provide a world-class education that is equitable, empowering and inspiring for all.
