Essential Questions for the Year

Question 1: How can understanding movement concepts and personal responsibility improve our performance in physical activities and enhance our overall health, develop our teamwork, communication skills, and appreciation for diverse abilities? 

Question 2: What strategies can we use to maintain a balanced lifestyle that includes regular physical activity, proper nutrition, and stress management? 

Movement Matters: Kickstarting Our Journey to Fitness!
Quarter 1

In Quarter 1, we work on our knowledge of physical literacy as we develop our movement skills and understand the importance of personal responsibility in physical education.  

Together, we explore a variety of motor skills and movement patterns that will help us become more competent in movement skills, discovering activities we enjoy. We learn how using concepts like force, motion, and rotation can improve our performance.  

As we engage in different physical activities, we discuss the health benefits of staying active and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We also focus on teamwork and communication skills, which help us work well with others and create a supportive environment.  

By the end of this quarter, we feel more confident in our abilities and motivated to lead a healthy and active life!

Active Choices: Building a Healthier Future Together!
Quarter 2

In Quarter 2, we take our physical education journey to the next level by focusing on maintaining a health-enhancing level of activity and fitness. Together, we learn about the importance of regular exercise and how it contributes to our overall well-being. We explore different types of physical activities that are fun and engaging, and we discover how to set personal fitness goals. We learn different strengths, stretching, endurance, and range of motion exercises we can benefit from. In addition, we discuss risk and safety factors that might affect your physical activity preferences.  

As we participate in various challenges, we also discuss ways to support one another in our fitness journeys, how to make healthy choices in our daily lives, stress management and personal responsibility. 

By the end of this quarter, we have a deeper understanding of fitness and wellness, and we feel empowered to stay active and healthy in our lives!

Fitness Fusion: Energizing Our Bodies and Minds!
Quarter 3

In Quarter 3, we focus on demonstrating our skills and knowledge related to physical fitness and nutrition. Together, we explore different strategies and tactics that can help us improve our movement and performance in various physical activities.  

We learn how to create personal fitness plans that include all the important components of health-related fitness, such as strength, endurance, and flexibility.  

As we dive into nutrition, we discover how the food we eat fuels our bodies and support our active lifestyles. We discuss the importance of assessing our progress and setting new goals. By the end of this quarter, we feel more confident in our abilities and excited to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle!

Celebrating Movement and Self Expression
Quarter 4

In Quarter 4, we celebrate our growth by focusing on the joy of movement through rhythmic activities, such as dynamic warm-ups, agility drills, as well as cultural and social dance forms. Together, we explore how rhythm can express our creativity and emotions. We demonstrate our skills in dance and movement and may even create our own routines or movement programs. 

We discuss how to analyze and apply technology and social media as tools for supporting a healthy and active lifestyle while recognizing the value of physical activity for our health and enjoyment. Additionally, we should now understand how staying active can help us feel good, relieve stress, and connect with others. By the end of this quarter, we appreciate the fun and self-expression that comes from being active and feel empowered to continue exploring physical activities that bring us joy and fulfillment!
