The Transformation of Arizona
Quarter 1

We will learn how living in Arizona shapes who we are as a community, much like the roots of plants growing deep into the earth. We will explore the exciting changes that have occurred in Arizona, beginning with its transformation from a territory to the 48th state. We will discover the important people and events that have acted as strong roots, helping Arizona grow and flourish over time!

Arizona’s Cultural Heritage
Quarter 2

Next, we will study Arizona's rich cultural heritage. Like the colorful flowers and animals of our state, diverse traditions and stories of our communities make the landscape beautiful! We will explore the important traditions and stories of the 22 Indian Tribes in Arizona and discover how they contribute to our lives today. Additionally, we will learn about the influence of Mexico and Mexican Americans, and how their traditions, food, and celebrations enhance the vibrance and diversity of our state.

Connecting History and Geography
Quarter 3

The unique geography of Arizona, with its mountains, rivers, and valleys, affects our lives and shapes our communities! We will explore the different landforms, climates, and resources that make Arizona special, and see how they influence the way people live, work, and celebrate their cultures. We will also learn about the special stories of each county in Arizona and how they have contributed to our state's history.

The Economy and Natural Resources
Quarter 4

Last, we will learn about Arizona's economy and natural resources, with a special focus on water. We will explore the different industries, like farming, mining, and tourism, that have flourished and blossomed in Arizona. We will discuss how water and rain are essential for our crops and communities, nourishing both the land and the people who live here. We will also talk about the challenges we face in ensuring that everyone has enough water for the future!
