A New Nation
Quarter 1

We will explore inspiring stories of courage from American history, focusing on individuals who faced challenges and fought for their rights. We will begin by learning about the Declaration of Independence, a powerful document that helped people seek freedom and govern themselves. We will discover how courageous leaders stood up against unfair rule and declared the right to be free. We will also discover the rights that the U.S. Constitution promises to everyone, such as the right to speak freely and vote.

The Shaping of America
Quarter 2

Next, we will dive into how America grew and changed through significant events like the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark Expedition. These adventures were not just about land; they were about the bravery of those who explored the unknown and faced many challenges along the way. We will also consider the impact of these events on Indigenous peoples and how their stories are important in our understanding of history.

The Fight for Freedom
Quarter 3

We will then turn our attention to the courageous efforts of individuals during the Abolition Movement and the Civil War. These brave men and women worked together to end slavery, raise awareness, and support those seeking freedom. Their stories show us the importance of standing up for justice, even when it is difficult. We will learn how the Civil War affected many different people, including women and Indigenous communities.

Creating Modern America
Quarter 4

Finally, we will explore the exciting changes brought about during the Industrial Era and the impact of migration on our country. We will learn how new inventions and the growth of cities changed the way people lived and worked. We will also examine how the Great Migration and the Harlem Renaissance brought new cultures, ideas, and skills to America. Through these stories of courage and resilience, we will see how individuals have shaped our nation and how we can all stand up for what is right in our own lives!
