Magnet Programs

Tucson Unified has a comprehensive magnet school program that offers the Tucson community optimum choices for public school education.

Magnet Programs provide families with ways to meet the individual learning styles and interests of their children.

Magnet programs are an essential component of the District's effort to support integration, increase academic achievement, increase graduation rates, and increase parent engagement.

Dual Language Programs

Language education that starts early and involves children in daily communication and content learning provides children the opportunity to develop a second language as naturally as they learned their first language.

Learning a second language prepares students to communicate with more people and to compete in a global economy.

Fine, Performing & Communication Arts

We value the creative process and the creative product, as well the student's individual creative voice.

Programs are devoted to the idea of interdependence of work in the arts with the broader worlds of ideas and action which will, ultimately, lead to a vibrant and responsible culture.

Communication Arts prepare students for the creative and technical processes involved in the high tech communications world we live in.

Science, Technology, Engineering & Math

STEM education includes the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Instruction is delivered in an inquiry-and project-based format.

STEAM education adds the component of Art. This educational framework is for all disciplines and types of learners with the goal of being more engaging.

Traditional Academics

An approach to teaching that actively promotes a comprehensive model of college readiness for all students from the moment that they begin elementary school.

Instruction is structured with a focus on reading, writing, and math.

Montessori & Gifted and Talented Education

These stand-alone programs deliver an innovative theme within one school.

Drachman Montessori’s multi-age classes result in student collaboration and peer teaching. Children are challenged and motivated by witnessing higher-level learning. Students hone their academic and leadership skills by teaching others.

Tully Elementary Magnet School is the district’s only elementary Gifted and Talented Education magnet school. Teachers collaborate and create integrated thematic units using inquiry-based approaches. Students learn to examine broad-based issues through risk-taking, curiosity, imagination and complex challenges.
