Daily Rate for the 1st-15th day:

  • Full Day - $104.00/day
  • Half Day - $52.00/day
  • Full Day at a Hard-to-Fill School - $135.00/day
  • Half Day at a Hard-to-Fill School - 67.50/day

This year looks a little bit different... here is what you need to know prior to taking an assignment at one of our schools. We have two new opportunities for work this year: 1. Proctoring and 2. Online Instruction.

All available assignments will be advertised on Absence Management (formerly Aesop).

All training is available via the TrueNorth Logic Professional Learning Portal. To login you will need to use your district credentials (district email and password). Proctoring

All Proctoring assignments will be in-person. Apart from accepting the position through Absence Management (formerly Aesop), you will need to "clock-in" using your 6-digit employee ID once you arrive on site. (Your first "clock-in" will cover a half-day assignment; you must "clock-in" again after 4 hours if you are covering a full-day assignment).

Proctoring duties include:

  • Provide supervision of the students in the learning space
  • Ensure that students are following health and safety guidelines (face coverings are properly on, safe distancing, materials are not shared)
  • Provide assistance (when needed) for students to turn on devices and login to their zoom lessons
  • Work collaboratively with teacher(s) to support students
  • Wipe down frequently used surfaces
  • Take students out to breaks/lunches.

Online Instructional Coverage

The day may be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning. Asynchronous time usually follows Synchronous time. Lesson plans should be uploaded in the job advertisement. If not, please contact the teacher/campus.

Synchronous = happens at the same time. Asynchronous = doesn't happen at the same time.

With synchronous learning, participants can receive immediate feedback. With asynchronous learning, the participants can learn at their own pace and time.

Breaks: Minimum 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon and lunch.

ZOOM

Zoom is the District's designated platform for virtual meetings. This will play an essential role in online instruction. Here is what you need to know:

  1. You will need to create and account on https://zoom.us/ using your TUSD1.ORG email address.
  2. You will need to email suboffice@tusd1.org to notify us that your zoom account was created (please include your employee ID) so that we can request for it to be "licensed."
  3. Prepare - you can find brief Zoom Tutorials and other information about TUSD learning apps at www.tusd1.org/NextSteps2020/Staff
  4. Contact the teacher/campus prior to your assignment to retrieve Zoom Meeting ID and password. Also ask them to set you up as "Alternate Host" using your licensed account.

Prop 206 Sick Time

Substitutes can request a sick day by emailing the Sub Office at SubOffice@tusd1.org. Please write "Sick Day Request" in the subject line of the email. All requests should be submitted within the same pay period of the requested sick day and must be submitted in increments of either half (4 hours) or full (8 hours) days to match how substitutes are paid.

The Substitute Office will verify you did not work that day and forward the request to the Payroll department for further processing.

If a sick leave request is submitted and there is not enough leave in the bank to cover the request, the employee will only be paid the amount that is in their sick leave bank. We encourage everyone to check their sick leave balance by logging into the employee self-service portal.
