Tucson Unified Magnet Schools Recognized by Magnet Schools of America
Nine of Tucson Unified's Magnet schools have been recognized by Magnet Schools of America's Merit Awards program for 2026.
Tucson High earned the Top Magnet School of Excellence designation, with Davis-Romero Elementary and Mansfeld Middle maintaining their status from 2025. Borton Elementary, Palo Verde High and Roskruge K-8 were named Magnet School of Excellence. Carrillo K-5, Dodge Middle and Tully Elementary earned Magnet School of Distinction.
To receive a national merit award, members of Magnet Schools of America must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. The awards recognize Magnet schools that demonstrate an exemplary commitment to academic standards, curriculum innovation, desegregation/diversity, specialized teaching staff and parent/community involvement.
These awards highlight the innovation, dedication, and excellence happening every day across Tucson Unified. Way to shine!
