W2s Mailed and Posted to iVisions Now!

A hard copy was mailed to the employee address that was on file as of 01/11/2021.

Visit the Payroll Intranet site or review the W2 Access and Explanation Document for information on how to access your W2 through the employee self-service portal and how to read your W2.

Appointments will begin February 15th for employees who need to pick up a W2. Email Payroll to request an appointment. There is a charge of $2.00 for each reprint, and photo ID is required for the W2 to be released. Walk-ins will not be accommodated.

Returning to Facilities - Procedures and Regulations

Many TUSD employees are starting to come back to our facilities. This is a reminder that in order to keep everyone safe and healthy, we have new regulations, http://govboard.tusd1.org/Policies-and-Regulations/Regulation-Code-EB-R2-T, that we all must follow, as well as COVID Return to Work Trainings that must be completed before you return.

A few highlights:

Everyone is required to wear a mask/face covering that covers your nose and mouth when on TUSD property, ask yourself the 5 Health Questions posted at the front of each TUSD building before entering, wash/ sanitize your hands often, and sign in at the front desk when you come into a building.

Also prior to returning, you are required to complete the 3 COVID Return to Work Trainings and related tests in the True North Logic Professional Learning Portal https://tucson.truenorthlogic.com/ia/empari/login/index .

In your assigned courses, you will see a link titled "COVID-19 Return to Work Trainings".

Within that section, the following courses are posted:

In addition, we have a Disinfection Training video that goes into greater detail about TUSD chemicals and how to use them. This is for any staff member, including Custodians, who are helping to disinfect our spaces.

Thank you for your prompt action to complete these mandatory training that will help keep everyone safe and healthy.

Getting Tech Support Remotely

The TS Service Desk is still available to help you with technology issues. However, in our new circumstances, we ask that teachers and staff working remotely follow the process below.
  1. Teachers/Staff Working Remotely: If you experience a technology issue and need help, please call your school and request that a Track-It work order be logged in for your issue.
  2. Schools (On-Site Staff): The staff person on site at your school who takes your call will create a new work order in Track-It. Be sure you provide a contact number to be included in the work order.
  3. TS Service Desk: A TS Service Desk staff member will contact the teacher or staff person directly to resolve the issue.
Working From Home TS Resources: Please log into Office 365 at https://portal.office.com/ to access these resources.

All employees who are working remotely will need to complete a Time and Effort form every pay period. This includes hourly and salaried employees.

Only submit this form once per pay period.

Use this free WiFi map from Connect Arizona to find free public WiFi hotspots at public libraries, schools, businesses, and other sites. Some sites may offer indoor public access during business hours, others provide access in the parking lot only. Everyone using the sites - outside or inside - is encouraged to practice social distancing precautions, including staying in your vehicle or at least six feet from other users and wearing a mask if necessary.

Policy ACD - Information for Staff

On December 8, 2020, the Governing Board adopted Policy ACD - Non-Discrimination and Gender Identity (Students) . This policy is effective immediately and enhances Tucson Unified's commitment to a policy of nondiscrimination as it relates to a student's gender expression.

With an intent to recognize a student's gender identity, a key provision of this new policy is that the student may request a change to their name and/or gender as it appears in Synergy without any further documentation or permissions required.

In accordance with the policy, the student (if under 18) will be advised that their parent/guardian will be informed that a change has been made to the education record.

Because Zoom captures students' names from Synergy, this policy intends to give a student the right to change their screen name on Zoom to be consistent with their gender identity. This will avoid so-called "deadnames" that do not reflect the student's gender expression and will eliminate the need for the teacher to change it for every Zoom session.

A form for students to request a change (ACD-E1) and the required notice to the parent/guardian has been created. In the meantime, please be aware that this policy requires that school employees immediately address the student consistent with their stated gender identity.

Here is the process:

  1. Student requests for a demographic information change, including a Zoom display name and/or gender, will be referred to the school contact person or office designated by the principal. (The process for parent requests to change demographic information is unchanged).
  2. Form ACD-E1 will be provided to the student.
  3. The completed form will be emailed to the Synergy team at Trackit@tusd1.org with a cc to mary.welborn@tusd1.org
  4. Once the change is made, the Synergy team will send a confirming email to the school contact with a reminder for the school contact to advise the parent/guardian that the change has been made (a requirement under Policy ACD). The suggested template for the notification (which may be via email) to the parent/guardian is as follows:

    Dear Parent/Guardian:

    This is to notify you that [STUDENT] has made a request under Governing Board Policy ACD to change demographic information in the student's education record. The change(s) that was(were) requested is(are) [name][gender].

    Policy ACD requires that the student's record be immediately changed, and that you, as the parent/guardian, be notified that such a change has been made.

    If you have any questions, please contact [school contact person].

    Sincerely,

  5. In accordance with the policy, this will change the student's name for school rosters, Zoom, emails school publications, and correspondence to the student. All school personnel are required to address the student consistent with the student's stated preference.

Help Track Student Learning Time

As you are aware, this year is very different than prior years, and school districts have new requirements we must report to the Arizona Department of Education due to the remote school online environment. Thus, we are requesting your help to supplement the student learning time reports. This includes time students are doing school work when not on teacher-led Zoom class meetings and homework. We understand times will be estimates, as we do not expect comprehensive tracking.

Please know a student's grades will not be negatively impacted if parent-entered time tracking is not completed. Our goal is to use all methods at our disposal to understand and encourage student engagement. Any contribution you can provide is much appreciated.

You can do this in Synergy ParentVUE (https://parent.tusd1.org/).

  1. Time Tracking is available only through web browsers. It is currently not available through the mobile app. If you have a web browser (such as Chrome) on your smart phone or mobile device, you can log into ParentVUE through the browser on your device. Otherwise, please use a computer.
  2. In ParentVUE, click "Attendance" in the navigation list on the left
  3. Then click the "Time Tracker" link in the upper right of the screen

You should enter time when:

  • your student does work outside of teacher-led sessions (this includes homework and in-class project time)
  • your student is trying to connect to class Zoom sessions but is unable to do so because of technical issues

Please enter total minutes per class, per day, no matter when in the day your student did the work. For your convenience, there are two options:

  • minutes can be entered daily
    or
  • the weekly total of minutes can be entered at the end of each week

Please do your best to enter and submit all applicable minutes for the first week of school. Even one entry helps a lot!

How do students log in to Office 365? (Video Instructions)

Student Logon/Password Change (August 2020)

Every TUSD student has an Office 365 account that has been set up for them. They can access their account by going to

portal.office.com, clicking Sign in (top right), and then doing the following:
  1. Enter < matric@s.tusd1.org > (without the < >) in the spot where it says "Email, Phone, Skype."
    Students' matric number is their student ID number.

  2. Upon entering this information, you will be taken to the TUSD sign in page. Your student's username will be the same matric@s.tusd1.org they used at the log-in screen, and their password is the same password they log in with at school.
    Students have to make sure they include the "s." after @ in the username: matric@s.tusd1.org.

How do students log in to StudentVUE (Synergy)?

Go to https://student.tusd1.org/

and log in using your 10-digit Student ID number and your District password.

IMPORTANT: Your StudentVUE User Name is your 10-digit Student ID number, not your district email address.

You can also access StudentVUE via the StudentVUE App for iOS and Android.

Student Log-In and Password Information - 2020-2021 School Year

Please Change Your Password If You Haven't Already

If you haven't changed your password since the start of school, please do so as soon as possible.

Student Login & Password Reset Instructions

  1. The first time you log in to a TUSD device:
    • User Name: Full school email address. This is in the form of the 10-digit Student ID followed by @s.tusd1.org, for example: 1300101011@s.tusd1.org
    • Default Password: 10-digit Student ID (Matric) number
  2. On the TUSD device or on a personal device, open a web browser (Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge will both work).
  3. Go to office.com
  4. Sign in: Type your full school email address including (Your Student ID number followed by @s.tusd1.org portion, for example: 1300101011@s.tusd1.org) and click "Next".
  5. Password: Type your 10-digit Student ID (Matric) and click "Sign in."
  6. Once the Office Portal loads, click your avatar icon in the top right corner.
  7. Click "My Account".
  8. The My Account page will load. Click "Password" from the left menu column of this screen.
  9. The password reset page will load.
  10. Type your old password. This is your Student ID/Matric number at the beginning of the school year.
  11. Then create and confirm new password.

    Password Suggestions

    Password Length:

    • Grades preK-5: Minimum 4 characters
    • Grades 6-12: Minimum 8 characters

    Password Complexity Recommendations (Grades 6-12): Make sure to use a CAPITAL letter, number (1,2,3,4,5) and a special character (!,@,$,%,&,?) to create a secure password.

    Please REMEMBER you password. Write it down if you must and keep it in a safe place you can reference later.

  12. Finally, click "Submit". If you receive an error message trying to change your password in Office 365, try this alternative method.
  13. Once you have done this, you can log into Clever.

How do I find my child's matric or Student ID?

Your child's Student ID is sometimes called their "matric" number.

If you have a ParentVUE account, you can find your their Student ID (or matric number) in ParentVUE.

Log into ParentVUE at https://parent.tusd1.org/.

Students can also find their matric/Student ID in StudentVUE, https://student.tusd1.org/

How do I get help with technical support and other questions?

If you have technical questions and/or need support, please call your school. They'll coordinate with Technology Services to get you the help you need.

If you call after hours, please leave a detailed message including:

  1. a callback number
  2. your student's name and grade
  3. the specific issue or question

Internet Access for 2020-2021 School Year

This school year Tucson Unified is providing hotspots from T-Mobile directly to families in need of Internet service. There is no application and the district is paying the monthly fee for using the hotspot for the 2020-2021 school year if needed.
