Ochoa Elementary School 100th Anniversary Celebration

A century of educational excellence! Ochoa Elementary School celebrated its centennial anniversary on May 12, 2023, with music and dance performances showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the community, as well as activities and fun for the whole family.

Students, families and staff weren't the only ones joining the festivities. Relatives of Estevan Ochoa, the school's namesake, were also in attendance.

Ochoa School was built in 1921 as a seven-room schoolhouse and named for Estevan Ochoa, a pioneer board member, legislator and mayor of Tucson who helped pass the first Territorial legislation authorizing public schools.

Here's to 100 more years of serving Tucson's students!
