English Language Development
Your student learning English as a second language will receive instruction from an expert language teacher to speak, read, and write in English skillfully.
Students learn to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish provided by a bilingual education endorsed teacher.
Your student can learn a variety of languages. Honors, International Baccalaureate and AP language courses are offered at certain high schools.
Students can earn a seal placed on their high school diploma for proficiency in English plus one additional language.
You can request interpreters in the major languages to aid communication with your teachers.
We also translate documents for district use.
We provide state-approved language proficiency test (AZELLA) and placement services to newly enrolled students whose home language is other than English so that students can receive English language services and join the Structured English Immersion (SEI) program.
