#TeamTUSD at the Educational Materials Center

Kirsten and Leanne pose in front of some of the figures and artifacts in the EMC

#TeamTUSD is a vibrant blend of diversity and culture. With over 13,000 artifacts and 140 culture kits, the Educational Materials Center (EMC) is managed by Kirsten Cummins, Lending Library Associate/Cataloger, and Leanne C. Miller, Curator of Art and Artifacts. Figures, kits and artifacts are available to TUSD staff to checkout and 1,000 checkouts occur each month during the school year.
"This kind of lending library with a special collection is a dream job for me. It's a combination of museum and library. I believe being exposed to different cultures helps create a more compassionate person," Kirsten says.
Leanne reflects on the appreciation and excitement of the teachers who make use of the museum lending library and the impact on their students.
"There's such a diverse student body in Tucson Unified. The students seeing themselves in the curriculum is really important", Leanne states. "I love my job. It's so inspiring."
EMC is a part of the Fine and Performing Arts Department. Find more information and browse the catalog on the EMC page.
