Dreams taking flight — literally! Students at Soleng Tom Elementary School got to go inside the cockpit of an airplane and even take over the controls, as part of Wright Flight Fly Day on November 16.
Wright Flight is an instructional program where students complete an aviation course and upon "graduation" they earn the opportunity to fly a plane. The nonprofit has been working with Tucson schools for over 30 years to help students learn about STEM careers, gain essential life skills and achieve academic and personal goals.
This year, Soleng Tom students took off from Marana Regional Airport. They got to sit next to a volunteer pilot, who guided them through takeoff, how to handle the controls, and landing the plane.
