At Manzo, we empower children to be future leaders. With innovative math and science initiatives and project-based learning, like our hands-on ecology project complete with on-site garden, greenhouse and animal habitat, our students become critical thinkers, problem solvers and lifelong learners. From the time students enter to the time they graduate, Manzo Elementary develops the whole student – preparing each child for greater heights of education, achievement and global citizenship.
Brenda Maytorena Brenda Maytorena
This school year marks Mrs. Maytorena's 20th year as a public educator. Mrs. Maytorena is a proud U of A alumni. She started working at Hollinger Elementary as a bilingual teacher, then moved to teach at a Dual Language School in Phoenix. Mrs. Maytorena was homesick and decided to come back to Tucson. She then started working as a Gifted and Talented Teacher in Dual Language 13 years. During this time, Mrs. Maytorena served as a principal designee and worked towards getting her master's degree in educational leadership. Mrs. Maytorena continued working in the TUSD school districts as a curriculum service provider for four years and moved into an assistant principal position. Mrs. Maytorena is grateful she get to serve as a principal of Ricardo Manzo Elementary in the heart of Barrio Hollywood.
