Bonillas Opera Day

Performers act out Beauty and the Beast for Bonillas students.

On October 5, students at Bonillas Traditional Elementary Magnet School were treated to a performance by Arizona Opera. The production, which was led by five University of Arizona students, was based on the operas by André Ernest Modeste Grétry and the fairytales of Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont.

According to Arizona Opera, the Beauty and the Beast opera “speaks to modern audiences as it grapples with issues of greed, free will, and the reality that things are not often what they seem.” The group put on two performances for students and held a short Q&A after each session.
